Positive Thinking

The other day, I was browsing through the notes I had made on my Ipod and I stumbled across this one line:

Focus on the positives.

That one sentence hit me in the face like a sack of chicken poo launched off a catapult and I couldn't stop smiling.
I think I jotted that thought down for myself when I was having a really crummy and stressful time in New York.

It's so true though, in any event, any situation, or any time, there will always be at least one thing that makes you smile, one happy moment. Even if everything else seems to be crashing down upon you, you just have to search for that positive item and focus, focus, FOCUS on it, and your crappy situation will seem bright enough to be bareable.

And if you haven't been fortunate enough to encounter this joyous occasion, then I think we all have the ability to go out there and make it happen. Even if it's a simple, seemlying mundane thing like taking a stroll outside on a gorgeous day, it can really be the silver lining to a gray cloud. It doesn't matter if life is tossing a whole wack load of bullshit at you, you have the power to stick in a little piece of sunshine for yourself, you just have to stop moping, get off your ass and go for it.

That is what my hellish New York trip taught me.
